Digital Gif

Created from the image to the left that I designed on Autodesk Sketchbook, I created a GIF on Adobe Photoshop. It is a vinyl record spinning as if it is on a record player.

IInduction Project

Before starting my first semester and Sunderland University, I was asked to create three pieces of artwork, something that would show my art of work, what areas I particularly favoured, wanted to excel in and what areas I was most fond of. Therefore I created the three pieces below, two of which are mixed media paintings on canvas board, and one sculpture.

Spine of Toothpicks

Made entirely of toothpicks and glue, I patiently built this sculpture over several weeks. It symbolizes my chronic back pain, as I suffer with constant sharp pains through the entirety of my spine.

The Darkness Underneath

This is the first of two portraiture pieces I created for this project. This is a self-portrait painted with acrylic and watercolour, outlined with fine pen. I love abstract work, and felt incorporating this into this piece was fitting. I suffer from several mental health issues including Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar II Disorder, both in which cause me to have periods of both severe depression and mania. The constant battles with my mood affect me on a daily basis, symbolised by the waves of colour and body language presented.

Father of Moths

The final piece is a tribute to my late father, who passed away from lung cancer in 2014. I found moths a comforter for the lack of his presence following his death as there were three key events shortly after his demise in which I noticed a moth flying in close proximity to me or perched right next to me. Ever since these events I symbolize a moth as my fathers spirit, reminding me that even though he is no longer with us, he is always near by me, watching and protecting.
